The witch was a
commissioned sculpture carved from Bakelite, jet, ivory, horn and
wood and she has mohair hair. There is a dial on the bottom
which is turned to make her stir the kettle. While she
stirs, her free hand waves a froggie over the pot! The witch
piece measures about 6 inches long and about 5 inches tall. There
are two black Bakelite kitties on the stand behind the witch. |

Carved Elephant Ivory
Cane Handle Dog with Basket of Bones
This
is a cane handle I carved for a special order. The ivory was
a large piece that he had brought back from a family trip in the
1960's to Africa and had been saving until he found someone to
carve it for him......and along came me! The design for the
handle is one that he sent me a picture of so I'm not sure what
artist it should be attributed to. The handle is about 5
& 1/2 to 6 inches tall and quite hefty. The carving
turned out awesome and, with the final polish really makes a dandy
topper for a cane. Ivory has a very sensual feel to the hand
when in the form of large polished carvings.
Carved
from pre-ban elephant ivory, here is a dapper Pug Dog About Town
cane handle. The handle is about 4 & 1/4 inches
tall. The dog's eyes, nose and buttons are inlaid of
fossil whale baleen.
